Are you a clinically trained professional with a passion for patient care and precision? MedVA is seeking a Medical Coder to support healthcare providers in managing patient communications, triaging concerns, and maintaining accurate medical records - all from a remote setting.

What You'll Do

• Review medical records, clinical documentation, and patient charts to identify diagnoses, procedures, and services provided.
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on supporting documentation.
• Ensure coding is consistent with established coding guidelines, payer requirements, and applicable regulations.
• Identify missing, incomplete, or inconsistent documentation and communicate issues to the appropriate team members.
• Maintain accuracy and productivity while meeting established coding turnaround times.
• Review claims and coding information for potential errors or discrepancies.
• Stay current with changes to coding guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and other applicable privacy requirements.
• Collaborate with clinical, billing, and administrative teams as needed to resolve coding-related issues.
• Participate in quality assurance and coding audits when required.

What You Bring

• Experience in medical coding, preferably in a healthcare, medical billing, or revenue cycle environment.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and clinical documentation.
• Familiarity with healthcare billing processes and payer requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify coding discrepancies.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple records or assignments efficiently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR), billing, or coding software is preferred.
